Overview:


Monash University is located in Melbourne, the center of Australian culture, art and industry. It is an internationally renowned public research university. It is a member of the Australian Eight Schools Alliance, Pacific Rim University Alliance, International University Climate Alliance, Commonwealth University Association [52] , Australia's five-star university, the leading academic center in the Southern Hemisphere. The school was established by the Australian Parliament in 1958 and is the second oldest university in the state. Monash Universit is named in memory of Sir John Monash, a famous military commander, public administration official and civil engineer in World War I, and the university is named after his surname.


The school is Australia's largest intensive research university. The school has campuses and scientific research centers in many countries on four continents, closely cooperating with many universities in the global scientific research field, and has established cooperative relations and formed academic alliances in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. The university has multiple campuses, four of which are in Victoria (Clayton, Caulfield, Peninsula and Parkville) and one in Malaysia. Monash also has a research and teaching center in Prato, Italy, a graduate school in Mumbai, India, and a graduate school in Suzhou, China. Monash University courses are also offered elsewhere, including South Africa.


The school also has more than 100 research centers and 17 cooperative research institutes, including the Australian Synchrotron and the Australian Stem Cell Center. The school has many well-known research results such as in vitro artificial insemination technology, the world's first anti-influenza drug, proteobacteria dengue fever prevention technology, neural stem cell cultivation, oxytocin inhaler, and 3D printed jet engine. In 2019, its total revenue exceeded US$2.72 billion (AUD), and its external research revenue was approximately US$462 million. In 2019, Monash University enrolled more than 55,000 undergraduates and more than 25,000 graduate students. It has more applicants than any other university in Victoria.


The school ranks 58th in the 2022QS World University Rankings and 48th in the 2021U.S. News World University Rankings. The school also has a number of disciplines ranked among the top in the world. Among them, pharmacy and pharmacology rank first in the Asia-Pacific region all year round. In addition, education, nursing, chemical engineering, architecture, law, medicine, translation, accounting and Finance and other majors are also among the best. Monash Business School ranks 26th in the 2021 U.S. News ranking, the first in Australia, and the first business school in Australia to be accredited by AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA.
