The University of Sydney (USYD, or informally Sydney Uni) is a public research university located in Sydney, Australia. Founded in 1850, it is the first university in Australia and is considered one of the world's top universities. The university is known as one of the six sandstone universities in Australia.


The University of Sydney is a member of the Sandstone Academy, the Australian Eight Schools Alliance, the Pacific Rim University Alliance, the Commonwealth University Association, the Global College Artificial Intelligence Academic Alliance, the New Engineering Education International Alliance, and the Asia Pacific International Trade Education and Research Alliance. At the same time, it is also a member of AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS accredited universities and the European Global Management Education Alliance CEMS (only one university in each country is selected). The University of Sydney focuses on the combination of theory and practice. Education, law, medicine, accounting and finance, politics and international studies, architecture, music, literature, linguistics, pharmacy and pharmacology, nursing and other majors are among the top 20 in the world in 2019QS.
