Lund University is a modern, highly dynamic and long-established European top university in the Kingdom of Sweden, a comprehensive research university. Its history can be traced back to the Franciscan School adjacent to Lund Cathedral in 1425 and is the oldest institution of higher education in Scandinavia. After Sweden won Skane from Denmark in 1658, the school was formally established in 1666.


Lund University has nine departments and various research centers and professional academic institutions, covering natural sciences, law, social sciences, economics and management, medicine, engineering technology, humanities, theology and art. With nearly 7,000 faculty and staff, Lund University is the largest higher education and scientific research institution in Northern Europe.
