The Eleventh University of Paris (French: Université Paris-Sud, formerly known as Université Paris sud 11), is a comprehensive national university located in the Île-de-France region of France. Founded, it is one of the prestigious institutions of higher learning in France and one of the main scientific research centers in continental Europe. Its campuses are mainly located in the provinces of Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine and Val-de-Marne, mainly in the southwestern suburbs of Paris. The eleventh university of Paris was established on January 1, 1970. Its predecessor was the Faculty of Science of the University of Paris. It is a public academic comprehensive research university. Beginning on January 1, 2020, the official website of the 11th National Congress of Paris officially announced that the name of the 11th National Congress has since "disappeared" and it has been completely merged with the University of Paris-Saclay. Dominique Vernay, chairman of the preparatory committee of the University of Paris-Saclay, stated that the university’s goal is to rank in the top 10 in the academic ranking of world universities and the first in continental Europe.
