Delft University of Technology (Dutch: Technische Universiteit Delft), also known as TU Delft, is the oldest and largest Dutch public technical university.Delft University of Technology is a member of several university associations, including IDEA Alliance, CESAER, UNITECH International and 4TU.


Founded in January 8, 1842, Technische Universiteit Delft is located in Delft, the Netherlands. It was formerly known as the Royal Academy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands established as a royal college by William II of the Netherlands. With the main purpose of training civil servants working in the Dutch East Indies. Over time, the school expanded its research and education programs, becoming a polytechnic in 1864 and a technical college in 1905 (making it a full-fledged university). In 1986 it was renamed Delft University of Technology. 


It is the oldest, largest and most comprehensive technical university in the Netherlands. It is a member of the IDEA alliance, the top European engineering alliance. Its majors cover almost all fields of engineering and technology, and it is one of the most famous universities of science and technology in Europe. Its high-quality teaching and superb scientific research level have a leading position and excellent reputation in the world. Daiwa University was named the world's 15th engineering and technical university in the 2021QS World University Rankings.


With eight colleges and numerous research institutions, Delft University of Technology has more than 26,000 students (undergraduate and graduate) and 6,000 employees (teaching, research, support and management personnel). 


The Dutch Nobel Prize winners Jacobus Henricus van't Hoff, Heike Kamerlingh Onnes and Simon van der Meer are related to Delft University of Technology. Daidai maintains close contact and cooperation with many multinational giants and well-known research institutions, such as Intel, Microsoft, Philips, ASML, Shell, European Space Agency (ESA), and NASA ), KLM, Akzo Nobel, DSM, etc. Its alumni include academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences: Yan Kai, Chen Zongji, Philips founder: Gerard Philips, Shell CEO: Ben van Beurden, and several Nobel Prize winners: Andre Geim.


Technische Universiteit Delft covers an area of more than 161 hectares, with restaurants, parks, bicycle paths, botanical gardens, new media centers, flight simulators, and aerodynamics and propulsion laboratories.
